Hi,
I recently came across this and haven't seen anyone else talking about this.
This might be a niche scenario and I know the cropped focal lengths are just glorified zooms but I want to know if anyone uses this 3x option on halide? I have a 17 Pro solely because of the telephoto camera but ever since my 15 pro I have used the tele lens on 17 pro less and less because it's just too zoomed in for my liking. Mostly (like 80%) I take pictures with 2x (48mm) equivalent so I am already zooming in while composing my shot and I have missed my 15 pro's 3x (77mm) way more than I thought I would. I do use 4x tele like 10% of the time.
So my question is, can anyone test this or has already tested this? 15 pro's 3x "optical" vs Halide's 3x on iPhone Air. If they are comparable and even in the same ballpark in terms of picture quality then I could switch to Air without any worries.
Side note: I just hate the 17 Pro for some reason, it didn't grew on me after using it since launch day. I want something unique but Air's lack of tele lens was my only gripe with that phone. All the other downsides are minor inconveniences for me. I don't use the ultrawide at all.
So anyone out there who has digitally cropped 3x or using Halide's 3x zoom mentioned in this article and have used a 15 pro, can you share some thoughts on this?
I am no camera expert by any means so consider me a rookie while explaining but with time I have grown accustomed to few focal lengths I love, mainly 35mm, 50mm and 77mm (or 80mm).
