that was just a guess, but it seems very plausible, because the Notebooks are overdue for an update and this rebate program ends on 11/2.

11/2 is Election Day here in the United States. Apple most likely will not release new products on the presidential election due to the U.S. news cycle. Apple will want to at least have some media coverage for a new product. I would expect updates in November maybe the 4th, but probally later.

The dates are different in different areas. I believe it ended on September 26. in Japan.
