I have a 'working from home' setup with the HP E24m G4 USB-C monitor which plugs into a Windows laptop via a single USB-C cable. The monitor is daisy-chained via a DisplayPort cable to a second monitor. When I do my main job, this is my setup, I plug the Windows laptop in, close the lid and work with the 2 monitors. This monitor has 'docking' function so powers my laptop etc. Works well.
I switch to a personal MacBook Air M1 for my freelance job, but if I plug the USB-C cable from the HP monitor the second daisy-chained display won't work, only the main HP one does.
The current workaround in place is that instead of using this HP USB-C cable/docking function, I have a separate DisplayLink dock from Hyper which is connected to each monitor via separate HDMI cables (i.e. no daisy-chaining) and I plug my MacBook Air into this. This works fine, but it annoys me and isn't ideal.
So the basic question: Is there a way to make my MacBook Air work like the Windows laptop does i.e. plugging it into the single USB-C cable coming from the HP monitor?
