I currently have a Samsung Propel, but want an iPhone. I got one off eBay for cheap (my sister was going to give me hers, but my mom decided she wanted it :p) So I read all I have to do is pop my SIM in and plug it into iTunes and follow the instructions on the screen, but I'm currently on a FamilyPlan with unlimited text and all that. So when I plug it into iTunes and click on the "replace current cellphone with this iPhone" will I still be on my family plan or will they make me chose a new plan?

You'll be on the family plan and the rate will increase by $30 (for the unlimited data).

There's a chance that you may not be charged the extra $30.

I bought an LG Xenon, and then got a real cheap 3G through CraigsList a few days later. Popped the SIM out of the Xenon and into and iPhone, and I was good to go.

AT&T hasn't added a data plan on, and when I go to the MyWireless section of their website, I have the option of adding the "iPhone Data Plan" while my current selection is set as "No Data Plan selected"

How long ago was this? They may have not had the time to perform an audit on your account.

Can't you just call AT&T and ask them to add the regular data feature, then pop in your sim card, rather than going to AT&T and getting an iphone. Same thing except maybe the activation/upgrade fee won't be there.

Yes they will just add the data plan $30 more a month.

Note that the other phone will not have internet on it unless you pay even more money for the other phone to have its own data plan. The unlimited data on your iPhone is NOT shared with the other phone, like how unlimited texting is.
