Can I add music to my library WITHOUT adding it to iCloud Music Library?

    Hi all,

I apologize if this is already a question that has been asked, but I didn't see it on here or anywhere else.

I use iTunes Match and Apple Music - however, I have a rather large amount of audio (around 45gb, it's an archive of 10 years worth of an old syndicated daily radio show) that I would like to add to my iTunes but NOT upload to the cloud, for many obvious reasons. It obviously won't get matched, and I don't want to upload 45gb worth of audio.

Is there a way for me to add all the files to my iTunes library, but not upload it to the cloud?

    Thanks in advance.

You can copy the files to - Home/Music/iTunes ( after it is copied drag the folder (new files) to itunes window and it will automatically add to the library)

Note - First - You might want to uncheck the following in itunes preferences to avoid duplicates and prevent iTunes from re-organizing your files
uncheck - Keep iTunes media folder organized
uncheck - Copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library

I don't think any of your local files are uploaded to icloud - mine are not.

Doesn't iTunes begin to try to match and upload anything that is added to the library as soon as they're added? That's how I've always thought it worked, but I could be wrong.

sorry I missed the "itunes match" part of your post - I think you can exclude from uploading by batch deselecting icloud status for those tracks - I don't use itunes match

Maybe someone here who does will answer that.

Good Idea to make a back up of the itunes folder before adding those files - that way you can put things back the way they were if you don't like it.

You could also make a separate "Itunes library" hold option when you open itunes.

Just uncheck "icloud Library" in Preferences.... That's all.

Your music will be added, but will not uploaded

If you do this you can't use any iTunes music with Apple Music across devices. The OP clearly states they use Match to move music across devices. So the OP MUST have iCML checked in order to use Match.
