Can i buy 4gb ram for new MBP?

Ey guys.

Im about to buy a new MBP but i want to upgrade it with 4GB and dont want to pay apple 140euro for it.

I upgraded my imac, but this thing is kinda new, so can i buy 4GB? Is it out yet? If it is, where can i buy it?

I'm pretty sure I saw some 2x2GB DDR3 SO-DIMMs at NewEgg for around $150.

Crucial's 2x2gb RAM (4gb DDR3 1066 MHZ) - $141.99 + tax

Apple's upgrade to 4GB RAM (on 2.4ghz lower end 15" MBP) is $150, and $135 with EDU discount.

So they actually are competitive now 😀. I was surprised...

It seems that this time around, Apple's upgrade prices aren't a huge ripoff. It looks like $50 more to upgrade the 320GB from 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM. Also, the ram is a reasonable upgrade price when compared to NewEgg.

Of course if you buy the upgraded parts elsewhere, you can resell the original pieces which has some benefit.
