I've been on the Apple Upgrade plan for a few years but I now own my iPhone 15 Pro and plan to sell it. I have a bunch of Best Buy gift cards so I'd prefer to buy the 17 Pro in full from Best Buy. All I want to know is, am I able to buy a phone from them to activate on my Verizon line but then when I end up selling it in a year or two "unlock" it so I can sell it as an unlocked phone? Thanks!

If you buy for the full amount it will be unlocked.
If you buy it under a contract (monthly) with discounts, not until it's paid for and contract is completed.

How do I ensure that? If I buy it in full from Best Buy its unlocked and can be added to and removed from any carrier at will?
