Can I cancel a Time Machine back up?

I realized this is going to take too long and wont be able to finish. Can i cancel

Yes, but it will have to start over at the next backup.

Click the TM icon in the menu bar, and there will be an option to cancel. It takes a few seconds to finish up when you do so.
