My friend has a Digital 8 Camcorder with both USB 2.0 output and firewire 4 pin output. However, I've left my firewire cable at my parents house and really need to try and capture this video for him tonight, but all I have is the USB 2.0 cable....

I've tried iMovie HD, FCP 4.5, and QT Pro to no avail, none of them see the camera. How can I capture via USB? HELP! I know you can capture Digital 8 via firewire so I know it can work.

Without knowing the details of the camera, I would say -- No. USB is generally only for transfer of stills.

It has 'USB Streaming'.... but I read on the Sony site that that's not supported by OS X.

Can't capture tape with USB.

DVD recorders can do USB I think but that would be it.

I've tried it before with my digital 8 camcorder, and there is no OSX support for it.
