There are remote control apps on the iOS App Store that function through a companion helper app on the Mac. I haven't tried any myself though.

How are you streaming live TV?

On my MacBook Pro 15" 2019 base model. I've got a decent wifi. Was promised 100 mbps but I usually get around 70.
