I have an airport extreme and express that I am not using, can I somehow hook up my hard drive to it to make wireless backups?

The AEBS can allow Macs to backup to connected USB hard drives with Time Machine. The Express cannot.

You will have to verify which model of AEBS you have because I don't know how far back the USB drive connection feature has existed.

Model Number

A1034 - 54 Mbps
it does have a usb port, but not sure if it is fast enough for doing backups?
thanks for your reply!

I have this set up. With an AEBS with an external HD connected via USB and it is fast to back up stuff. Of course the 1st backup with is rather long because it backs up alot of data, but the others are fast. In fact, I dont even realise that my iMac is doing the TM back ups.

Also, I dont notice any slowing in the speed of my internet connection. I dont see why you shouldn't do it :p
