Hi (First post, have mercy)

I'm looking to clear some space on my macbook and found the "developer" folder. It's 1.8Gb in size. However, when I move it to the trash bin I'm asked to type in my password. Why is this? Am I deleting something vital? I never use anything in the folder (that I'm aware of). To delete or not delete, that is the question (I need help in answering).

Thanks!

You can delete it. It in no way affects the running of OS X. It asks you for an admin password because it is a system level folder. System level items require administrator rights to be modified.
