I'm running out of space on my MacBook Pro and use it only for Audio Production and Internet.

I found a folder titled "Compositions" with a lot of .qtz and a few .mov files. Do I need these? Can I delete these?

.qtz and .mov together are normally associated with the Quartz Composer software, which is part of the Development Tools suite. Its function is for creating interface media for applications. See whether it is installed on your MBP, as you'll be able to use it to see what the files actually are.

In the meantime, if you have a little bit of space you may want to install OmniDiskSweeper. It's a free tool that allows you to drill through your hard disk and find out what is taking up all the disk space.

Quartz Composer is indeed on my drive. I just don't know what it's for. I know you said what it is, but I don't know what that means.

Is this app needed by the computer for some basic functioning?

Do I need this Quartz Composer and associated files for general computing purposes and more importantly, for audio production and web surfing?
