Can I delete sent names in mail?

When I type an email address on the iphone, some old email addresses show up as I type. How do I clear the names that I have sent email to? They're from an account that I deleted.

Unfortunately, according to Google, the only way to do it is by restoring and selecting "set up as a new phone", not from a backup. There is no "empty cache" for Mail on the iPhone.

Personally, if it bothered me, I might try just deleting the email account from the phone, rebooting, and setting it back up to see if that clears out the old addresses. Actually, if that didn't work, I'd consider it a fairly glaring security issue.

^^^ I agree, I just deleted some duplicated names, #'s, and email addresses, but first I had to delete them from my MBA address/contacts then sync with my iPhone. 😎

Deleting the contact does not make the address from coming up when you begin typing it in the 'send' field.

It does on my 3GS 32GB Black iPhone; maybe your 2G hasn't been updated to 3.0. I've deleted several email addresses that are no longer active via my email accounts and *POOF* they DO NOT EXIST on my 3GS iPhone.....😱😱😱

I know what he's talking about, when you send someone an email that's not in your contacts it saves the email address and there's no way to delete
it.
