Hi guys. I did a search here on this, but only found scads of guys drooling over how awesome private browsing was for checking out porn....and while I am not throwing stones at people who use their mac for this reason, since this is our family computer, I want to be able to monitor it's use a bit better.

Having teenage boys, I would like make it so my boy's user accounts can not use this feature. I looked under security, and parental controls, but all I could find was where they could only go to websites that were in their bookmarks.

This would be too restricting. I just want them not to be able to click "private browsing". Is there any way I can do that? If I cannot, can I disallow the other users on our computer to even use safari, and make them use firefox?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, you should be able to disable their user from using safari under accounts in system preferences. It's an unfortunate thing to have to do, but... I don't know how to hide the private browsing thing.

The first thing I learned to do when I started using the internet was how to delete the history, cache, etc. Seems to me your children will just do the same, if they choose to visit sites they know you won't approve of. SOO.. I would say you're not going to solve much by restricting them from Safari.

If their account is not set as an administrator, you can enable parental controls in the acounts menu from the system preferences.
Then open safari, and check the security tab in preferences and you should be able to disable it.
