For anyone who downgraded back to 4.3.3, what about notifications? Are they all showing up as selectable under settings-> notifications? Mine only has game center and ping. Nothing else.

thats not how i did it. i still have 10.5 on my imac i just went to dfu mode and hit restore and it automatically put 4.2.8 right back on my iphone.

Where can I get the 4.3.3 file? Will it still be on my Mac or do I need to download from somewhere else?

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you guys know that it is possible to downgrade IOS 5 beta 4 to 4.3.3 and if you want to then update 4.3.3 to 4.3.4. I did this yesterday after the Apple store said they couldn't offer me support because I was running a developer OS...Anyway the process was hard. I first installed iTunes 10.3 and downloaded IOS 4.3.3. I put the iPhone into DFU mode and attempted to restore using Shift + Restore (Windows). That got me to where it said updating firmware then it failed. I then tried iTunes 10.4 and IOS 4.3.4 and it told me the iPhone cannot be restored. After that i downloaded iTunes 10.5 beta 3 and IOS 5 beta 3 and tried to restore to IOS 5 to possibly save my iPhone from a lifetime in recovery mode. After all of the above failed I tried something that came to my mind knowing that it probably won't work. I download IOS 4.3.3 and the appropriate redSn0w version for that .ipsw and attempted to jailbreak an IOS 5 device with IOS 4.3.3 software. (I chose not to install Cydia). After the jailbreak process it booted up to 4.3.3 and I was able to "Partially" use the phone. The baseband didn't work yet. Then I installed the lastest version of iTunes that is publicly released and it told me IOS 4.3.4 was available and I updated through iTunes and I officially downgraded IOS 5 beta 4 to IOS 4.3.4!

I also noticed that my battery time increased to what it should be! A few months I jailbroke my iPhone and I dont care what everyone says but it really does screw up your battery. For months the battery would only last a day. Now I am currently at 68 percent with 1 hour and 46 minutes of usage and 8 hours and 7 minutes of standby. I even noticed the phone is more snappier and the way it should run if it has a 1 GHz processor.

I hope this helps someone!

And for the post above you can get the software if you search "felix bruns" on google and chose the .ipsw that you want.

Please Note:
Do this at your own risk

I would dare say that beta 4 is more than stable enough for daily use with great battery life for me. With the safari bugs seemingly fixe it's great.

Yes. I backed up my phone before installing beta 3 and ultimately updated to beta 4....but here's what I did.
Uninstalled iTunes 10.5. Then went to the Apple site and downloaded the public version of iTunes that is available right now. Once installed that version of iTunes had all my songs already in it and was exactly as iTunes 10.5 was, so no frustrations there. Then I plugged in my phone (which was running beta 4) and iTunes pops up a warning saying that the phone requires iTunes 10.5. I put my phone in DFU mode at which time iTunes says it must be restored. I restored it, iTunes put on 4.3.4, I then restored from my backup, and now my phone is just as it was before.
So the short answer to the title of your post...yes you can.

A DFU restore from iOS 5 beta 4 to 4.3.5 worked for me. No problems at all.
Just adding my two cents. :)

I like your instructions better, i just followed them step by step and i downgraded to 4.3.5 with no problem! It wouldn't work for me, i had to jailbreak then unjailbreak. It was so annoying. Thank You

No problem, glad to help

i keep getting error 1 when restoring. I tried restoring results 4.2.10, regular 4.2.8 (with my shah via tiny umbrella). All end up with error 1. Tried fix recovery, just puts it in restore mode.

My 4.2,8 custom firmware bundle works. However it then shows MEID: unknown. and won't get past activation screen

verizon iphone. Any help would be great

I just did DFU restore, I've done so far on every beta except 3, and I disnt try with 3. I didn't have to change my versions of iTunes. I did error out a couple of times. But again, DFU mode fixed that. Download the 4.2.10 and put it on your desktop or somewhere easy and option-restore and it should take you right back to 4.2.10, has worked every time for me.
