Can I dual boot from 2 different SSD's

I've installed a 2nd SSD in place of my SuperDrive, and I would like to Partition the slave drive, and load multiple Linux Distro's on there. Using disk utility, I've only created an extra drive space for myself... Is it possible to dual boot from my slave drive?

Sure. In my Mac Pro I give each OS its own hard drive. No real advantage or disadvantage compared to partitioning but it keeps things simple for me.
