This has been annoying me for at least 5 years, maybe longer.

I have multiple keyboards installed (or activated), and I really need both the US English and Spanish keyboards. Because I have multiple keyboards, I have the little "Globe" icon button to switch between them. The "Globe" button appears below all the keys, on the left bottom corner, opposite the "Microphone" button for dictation on the bottom right.

If I turn on the Emoji keyboard, then it does NOT get treated as "another language" (along with English and Spanish). I wish it were another language. But no, it appears as A WHOLE NEW BUTTON, a "Smiley face" icon that eats up half of the "ABC"/"123" button. I really like having the full "123"/"ABC" button because I use it all the time, and I tend to open the Emoji keyboard accidentally quite often when I have it activated.

I see some posts online complaining about the OPPOSITE of what I am experiencing: Some people have only the "Globe" button and no "Smiley Face" button, and they want both. I want only one! But I have not found an answer, it has been YEARS, many iOS updates. (The people who complain they don't have a "Smiley Face" button are always NOT using English as their main alphabet, unless I am mistaken. In fact, I think they are never using the Latin alphabet, even. They are using Greek and Simplified Chinese and stuff.)

Does anyone else have this problem or complaint?

Has anyone found a solution?

This changed a few years ago. Before you accessed emojis using the globe button as well as other languages. Apple then added a separate emoji button. Personally I like this change. I also now use the feature where you can combine two languages on one keyboard so no globe key at all for me, just type the language and auto correct understands. This puts the emoji key in the bottom left instead of the globe so my 123 button is full size as well
