I will order online from UK Apple store. I want the US layout keyboard with wider shift key. Anyway I can?

You don't have to call to get an alternate keyboard in the US either. The option is there on the configuration page when ordering online.

Dropdown menu "Keyboard and Documentation" on configuration page. You don't have to call.

Thank you Deki, don't know how I could've missed it!

Anyone else prefer wider shift key like me? I prefer it because my pinky finger doesn't have to stretch so far (I touch type).

Why would you do such a thing?! The UK-style return key is a borderline human right! :p

[I only realised this after using a US MBP a while ago and found I hit \ each time I went for shift or return!]

Oh I just read that, that's actually exactly the problem I want to avoid by getting a US style keyboard! How did you end up hitting \ when going for shift?

Here is a UK/ISO keyboard (top) and a US keyboard (bottom):

When I press enter/return on a UK keyboard I hit the top of the button, which corresponds to the \ on the US keyboard (so on the US keyboard I always hit \).

And for the specific question you asked, looking at the layouts I think I remembered incorrectly: I think I actually pressed enter/return when I went for shift.

Either way it was bloody infuriating! Haha
