sometimes keeping a hard drive in any way other than horizontal can wear it out quicker

overall, hard drives outlast computers so it won't be noticed...i have seen racks designed to hold power macs horizontally so it probably does not matter

I've considered that, but I hope to have a new video card for my desktop pretty soon. This is not a long term solution.
