can i jailbreak my 3gs?

If it can't be done then what does ONCE PWNED mean?
"The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment."

Your only hope is to downgrade to 3.0 following the instructions on saurik's site. This will only work if you registered your device through Cydia prior to 3.1 being released. Once downgraded, you can jailbreak using purplera1n and then upgrade to the PwnageTool-created 3.1 firmware, although since you have already installed 3.1 stock, your baseband has been upgraded and you will not be able to unlock.
Will i ever be able to unlock? I don't need it now but it is a good selling point. How would I have registered through cydia?

Cydia offered the option about a month ago, but it was just for a short time. Basically it stored your activation blobs so that you could update/activate 3.0 whenever you want. I was able to save mine and just pulled them off of the server using umbrella and TinyTSS server.

The new baseband is not unlockable yet, and there have not been any reports indicating that an unlock will be coming soon/at all.

Do you think it will be here by july? ANd is there anyway i can just get tethering back? I DESPERATELY need it!
