Can I keep my HDD the same if I get snow leopard?

I plan on upgrading to snow leopard in a few days, and I was wondering if I install snow leopard, will it wipe all of the files off of my hard drive? I would like it to just replace the OS. I am planning to buy the $29 single user addition for my white macbook.

Yes you can. Just pop the DVD in and follow the instructions, you should be fine. That being said i will still recommend you backup your hard drive just in case. You can drag the files your self to an external hard drive or use an application like SuperDuber or Carbon Copy Cloner (i recommend the SuperDuper).

An upgrade by definition does not wipe your hard drive - it updates the files that are on there.
