Took my sleep/wake broken iPhone 5 to the Apple Store (terrible experience) and got a loaner phone. I don't want to go back up there since it isn't exactly nearby.

Has anyone just kept their loaner phone & not picked up their "fixed" iPhone?

If so, did you have any issues with it?

UPDATE: I won't be keeping this loaner iPhone after all. The mic doesn't work on phone calls. Since the phone is pretty useless as a phone, I have made an appointment to get my loaner replaced.

You've been a member of this forum since 2002 and you pose a question like that?

The only thing I agree with you on is going to an Apple store anymore is a awful experience.

A store full of people who are all supposed to be able to help you yet not one of them have any clue WTF is going on.

Wtf. That's stealing.

Apparently, I am the only one here who has actually read the iPhone Loan Agreement, which I had to sign before they gave me a loaner phone:

2. Failure to Return Loaner Phone. In the event that you fail to return the Loaner Phone to Apple by the Return Date (i) Apple will obtain full ownership rights in the Customer Phone, and may use or dispose of the Customer Phone as Apple sees fit; and (ii) you will obtain full ownership rights in the Loaner Phone, and accept the Loaner Phone provided to you as a full replacement of the Customer Phone. All original terms of sale, including the remainder of any warranty terms still in effect, that applied to the Customer Phone shall continue in force and shall apply to the Loaner Phone.

According to the agreement, I can keep the loaner & Apple will keep my iPhone. Not a big deal to me, I was just asking if anyone had any experience doing it.

If you had already read the agreement why did you make this thread?

So you already know the answer to your question?

No, I wasn't asking if I could keep the loaner. I was asking if anyone else had done it, and if they had any problems.

What kind of a question is that? I mean.. Suppose someone would've told you "yeah, it failed after 3 months". Bad luck? Probably. Suppose someone would've told you "it's fine and continues to work like a charm". WHAT'S THE POINT? Do you want us to tell you "it's ok" and pat you on the shoulder? It's ok pal, keep it. Bye.

Since you know it all, why do you need someone else's experience?
Criticize someone without knowing all the information, then when your wrongness is revealed (respectfully by the OP, actually), deflect that entirely by making up a new reason to criticize them.

OP--I would just keep the phone. It would be nice of you to call the store and tell them that's what you are doing so they don't have to store your phone forever (I'm sure your phone will become the new phone)

OP, I have kept a loaner phone and nothing happened to me. I was living in Hawaii at the time and the nearest Apple store was an island away.

Sorry for those people above me that clearly can't read.

Why contribute to a thread when you have nothing to say?

Its not a useless thread. OP is asking if others have kept a loaner phone and if they had problems.

I already described a scenario involving problems. It's like asking "Should i buy a new iPhone 6 plus or there might be a defective screen?" Who knows? Nobody.

Actually, I know. Because I kept a loaner 5 with no problems which I sold via Craigslist.

Yeah, because every iPhone ever made is the same so if one works for 5 months then every iPhone will work for 5 months without a problem. Even "I know god exists" sounds more plausible.

Do you even know what kind of loaner phones they give out? Highly doubt it.

My loaner phone is the same ones they give out for replacements. Guy took off the plastic on the screen and handed it to me.

Really? I always have a pleasant experience at my overcrowded Apple Store.

What does that have anything to do with the discussion? I'm outta here, it's painful
