Of course a battery will degrade over time, however it is not a good idea to fully drain it on a regular basis. Lithium-ion batteries can reach a deep-discharge state when fully depleted, which causes it to have more problems getting back to a 100% again. When your Mac goes to sleep after having stated that the battery has no more juice in it, it still has a certain percentage available to avoid deep-discharge. The worst thing you can do is to put your notebook away in the closet with an empty battery when your going on a vacation.

I'm going to leave it plugged in for at least 2 days and then 3rd day ill unplug it and then use the battery up to 50 percent then keep it plugged in. thats what the faq is basically saying right? or am i getting all of this wrong?

Mine spends much of its life on AC (on my desk). I discharge it perhaps once a month or so.

I've owned it since august, currently 51 cycles and 99% health on the battery :D

edit:
at the end of the day, look at it this way: if you leave it on AC all the time, why have a battery at all?

yes they wear out. But if it is worn out, just buy a new battery, or use it on AC all the time. Either you use it on AC all the time from new, or you make use of the battery and then use it on AC all the time if you don't replace it when it dies.

either way, i'm sure apple have designed the battery to work well when the laptop is used as a laptop. so, use that battery if you need to...

65 cycles over a year, 92% battery health according to istat pro.

I'll be on a new computer long before it gets down too far.
I can't believe some people are on 9% battery health!

is my macbook supposed to say 100 percent cause its been saying 99 and it was plugged in all day?
