Can I make my external display my main display without closing MPB?

The title pretty much says it all.

On my PC all I have to do is check the "main display" option do make it work but I can't figure it out on my MBP.

Any help is appreciated.

Drag the menu bar to the other screen in the Displays menu.

Switchresx will let you shut down your MBP display when it's open and connected to an external monitor. It let's you run "clamshell mode" but much cooler (by having the screen open for airflow) if that's what you're looking to do.
