Hey, I like to keep my Macs tidy and thought my Applications folder looked a little messy with a whole bunch of programs from Adobe Creative Suite in there, so chucked them in a folder called 'Adobe'. Neat!

I got carried away, making folders named the same as my Launchpad ones for 'Music Production', 'Streaming' and so forth..

However, a couple of programs have protested when I've opened them up. My streaming software, which was running whilst I moved it, stopped running until I moved it back - one or two others actually said to move them back to applications.

Should there be anything wrong with putting .app files in folders within my Applications folder?

It strikes me that most seem to be fine.. Should I just move them back to the main Applications folder as and when they protest? Or was it a very silly move I should undo for all of them immediately - and if so, why is this the case?

Thanks

As you discovering, moving an app to other than Applications works fine for most apps and not for others. Only way to find out for sure is to try it and move them back if it breaks things.
