Can I Purchase the iPhone X in when preordering?

Hi all, sorry if this is a repetitive question.

I am currently on an ATT Next Installment Plan for my iPhone 7+. Will I be able to purchase the iPhone X outright and in full, without contract when I try and preorder? I want to simply sell my iPhone 7+, continue making payments under the iPhone 7+ installment plan, and pop my sim card into the iPhone X.

Additionally, will purchasing unlocked be an option?

Selling a phone on an installment plan is generally frowned upon. If you stop making payments, the phone will be blacklisted and the buyer won’t be able to use it. You should pay off the phone before selling it.

If you purchase the AT&T model full price directly from Apple, it will be unlocked. You can do this even if you are on an installment plan.
