Can I put DRM on other music and video???

When you download music from iTunes, it has DRM in it so that you can 'Transfer Purchases' from your iPod to another computer, as you have paid for them.
I have quite a few songs in my iTunes library that are not from the iTunes store - they are from CD's and friends - and therefore have no DRM and i cannot easily transfer them from one computer to another via the 'Transfer Purchases' menu option. Is there any way i can put some DRM into these files so that iTunes think they are FREE songs downloaded from iTunes, and i can 'Transfer Purchases' ?????

I know there are other means of transfering the music, but i would much rather do it this way.

Copy them to a CD or hard drive. Why infect them with DRM?

Transferring to an external hard drive is by far the easiest, then import them to the other computer
