can i put my nintendo switch on my macbook pro?

is there anyway i can turn my macbook pro into just using the screen part of it and playing my switch on it?

I don't think so. There are lots of people who want to connect things like Playstation to display it on the iMac screen but there's no capability of doing that either. It's a waste of a screen in my opinion, and it would be very cool if you could do what you mentioned with the Switch. You can however use PS4 Remote Play to play a PS4 on a Mac over an Internet connection. So it's technically possible. I don't have a Switch and don't know if there is an app like that.

In Theory it could work over USB C on a 2016-2017 MBP. However the Video ports on the older machines are output only I think although it may be possible with usbc to thunderbolt 2.

People used full screen video capture devices to do this with consoles way back.

Good point, The Elgato would probably work for that. You might get some lag though, but technically possible.
