As I can't find older versions of os x in this mbp's mac app store.
Thanks.

When I got my 15" MBP last week, on the app store I could see in my purchase history all the installers back to 10.7
Granted I didn't try and download them at all..

So before posting this I decided to try and download 10.7 for the heck of it.

So no.. you can't even download it. I did have the downloads saved to create USB installs, but decided to delete them since I honestly never used them. I think I have mavericks/Yosemite still though on a backup HD.

So one can't download older os in newer os, no matter can the older os be redeemed or not, older hardware with older software will works.
Thank you TheBacklash and CoastalOR.

Yes & No. OS download is tied to the Mac hardware, not the current running OS. The downloading of a older OS is tied to if the Mac hardware can run the older OS. I have Yosemite (10.10.5) running on a 2011 MBP (originally shipped with 10.7). I can download the OS 10.8 installer from the Purchased history in the App Store to my 2011 MBP, but not to my Mid 2015 MBP (it only supports as low as OS 10.10).

Ok, I think a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) shipped with 10.7 can get 10.8 even after updated to 10.9 +, but a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) shipped with 10.9 + can not. It could be correct.
Thank you.

You'll be able to download 10.8 on any mid-2012 MacBook Pro, regardless of what OS came on that computer. The mid-2012 models can all run 10.8 even if they shipped with 10.9 or later.

I found an article "macOS versions and builds included with Mac computers" at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204319, and it could be sure os x with original and later version(s) could be got on a specific mac. Thank you.

Don't think so. If you go to Internet Recovery and erase the MacHD and then reinstall OS it would only allow you to reinstall what the device shipped with.

I wasn't talking about internet recovery, but rather downloading and/or redeeming installers from the App Store.

Thank you, you're saying a fact that isn't being talked about in this thread, I'd not like to do it on an old machine with poor internet connection.
