I want to remove my iTunes application on my PC and use a third party app like Media Monkey or Dr.Fone. My reason for doing so is to remove or delete the music app on my iPhone 8 Plus.I want to use a third party app like C's Music or something similar. My plan is to migrate ALL of my music files from iTunes to another folder, then delete or incapacitate the iTunes folder (for now). Then I want to install the music management application on my PC and load it with ALL of my music files. My next step will be to remove/delete the music app on my iphone. Doing this will remove all music from the idevice I was told. Then, using the other music manager on my PC, I would copy my music files to my iphone and use the third party app on my iphone to play my music.

Why, you ask? Good question. I'm tired of the way the ios music app was gradually modified to cater to Apple Music, which I do not use. I have no control of how my songs are played anymore. I believe the music app was great a while back, but now it isn't (in my opinion). Plus iTunes is so restrictive in what you can or cannot do with the music anymore. I don't use it for backups anymore, opting for icloud backups.

Does this seem feasible? Will it work? Will it be compatible with the ios device? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

might be easier to remove all the music "with itunes" from your phone / device?

Connect the phone < click on the iPhone icon < click on Music and then deselect all the check boxes and then sync to remove all the music from the phone

Hopefully you won't miss any of that music?

After that you can work on the new app and put music back with the new Music App ( Non iTunes ?)

I can't argue with you comments about itunes - it is getting worse and worse as a music player unless you want to subscribe to Apple Music.

I took your advice and used iTunes to sync NO music from itunes to my phone. For the most part it worked except for about 300 songs that itunes put back on. These might have been purchased songs and albums. I then went into settings and deleted those songs remaining. Part 1 completed. Thanks for the suggestion.

I deleted the Music app on my iPhone. Now I only can play music through Pandora music. My other music app is a third-party app called C's Music. I transferred all the music on my PC to an external drive, virtually removing it from iTunes on my PC. I next installed Mediamonkey and am using it to access my music folder. My next step will be to use mediamonkey to sync the music back onto my iphone. Not sure if this will work. I have a feeling that the phone will require ios music app to be reinstalled. Here goes...

The music files loaded onto the iphone (approx 1700 files). Tried playing a song through the C's Music app. Song loaded but did not play. Play button was activated but acted like it was on pause. Closed the app and went to my Sonos app and played a playlist and music started playing from my sonos speakers. I would call this a partial success. Will have to investigate why music not playing on phone. Part 2 completed.

most iOS players I know of work off of iTunes / Music

VLC might play the files on an iOS device but is not very good at organizing the music

    very interested in your solution

I found out that I do indeed need the IOS Music app on my phone. Cs Music will not work without it :(
I am still using Mediamonkey instead of iTunes, though. Once I figure out all of the idiosyncrasies involved in MM I think I will be more satisfied with it.
