I have a project to replace the Late 2014 Mac Mini drive to a 120gb SSD .To replace the Late 2014 Mac Mini hard drive is it possible just to use the TR6 Torx to open the Mac mini and replace it or will i need the whole toolkit?

Basically can i get by with just using the Tr6 Torx and the plastic opening tools?

It depends on what you are doing;
If you are replacing an existing HDD with a SATA 120 Gb SSD then:
Tools
Plastic Opening Tools
Spudger
TR6 Torx Security Screwdriver
T9 Torx Screwdriver
Mac Mini Logic Board Removal Tool

If you are replacing an existing PCEi SSD with a PCEi 120 Gb SSD then:
Tools
Spudger
TR6 Torx Security Screwdriver
T5 Torx Screwdriver

I got my information from ifixit:

Here's another idea. I have a late 2014 Mini, 2.6, 8gb ram, HDD. It is SLOOOOW.

I ordered and today received a Crucial 2.5"ssd which I cloned from the HDD and have attached to the mini via USB3. The mini is a whole new beast! Boot time went from 83 seconds to 32 seconds. Apps load much faster, finder more snappy. Very happy with this upgrade. I was considering a thunderbolt drive, but USB 3 is so much cheaper, and still very fast compared to the Mini's HDD. Me like....
