My iMac 2011 is now dead, I bought the top one with 256 ssd and 1 tb hard drive.
Can I remove and reuse the ssd ? Not sure and can’t seem to find out what type it is .

Yep, but you will have to remove the 1tb HDD unless you are fine with using the SSD as external storage.

I believe for the 2011 it'll be a Toshiba SATA 2.5" SSD

The reason I ask about the ssd drive is when I had someone try to fix it, he didn’t think there was an ssd drive in there.

Ah, the SSD is behind the optical disc drive - not where the HDD normally sits on a 2011 iMac

I am unsure what you mean here, can you explain?
Sorry - I had read the post wrong that he bought a new iMac with fusion.

The SSD in a 2011 iMac is behind the optical drive. You have to remove the optical drive to get at the SSD.
That might explain why someone might think that there is no SSD installed.
It's a standard 2.5-inch SSD, with side brackets.

I type too slow, TwoH was first, of course

Depending on what parts of your iMac is dead, you can reuse more parts than just the SSD and HDD.
Join a local Mac community to see what others need.
You can sell to them for a reasonable price, or even give them. It's better than just dump it and create more garbage to the environment.
In my city, a guy have tried to sell his dead iMac 2008 for 30$.
