Can I run BootNeuter while on EDGE network?

I know I had to have Wi-Fi access when I was using Cydia to install BootNeuter, but do I have to be on Wi-Fi to actually use BootNeuter?

I have my 2G running 3.0 jailbroken, but the unlock seems to be a pain 🙁
