I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be possible to run Photoshop CS6 on Ventura, using the Windows version through Wine? (Sorry this is the first time I have ever posted on a online forum and accidentally posted this twice.😅)

Not sure, but you could simply install Windows as a VM and install Photoshop that way. If you used Parallels you could then run it in "coherence" mode so it would look like Photoshop was a native Mac app.

I would add that you can buy some great software at a very reasonable price - Affinity Photo. I don't work for them or associated with them. I am an Adobe CC user but do recognize good value in software when I see it. I have the whole suite, which is basically their version of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Worth a look rather than trying to run old software. You also get better performance. So unless there is some reason it needs to be Photoshop I would recommend Affinity. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/

They have a 6 month demo going right now so you can really give it a shot and see if it fits your needs.

Are you on an Intel Mac, or an Apple Silicon?

If an Intel Mac, then you might as well use Parallels, and run Mavericks or similar inside it. I did this for a while when I upgraded to Catalina.

If you're on Apple Silicon, then virtualization of old Intel environments isn't an option. You could try UTM's emulation, but it will be brick slow.

Otherwise, you'll probably have to try WINE to find out yourself.

But TBH, I'd agree with the above: buy Affinity Photo and use that instead. CS6 is 12 years old, so it's not like you're learning Photoshop CC 2024.

There might be compatibility issues or performance limitations. Some features or plugins might not work as expected.

Running Photoshop CS6 via Wine on macOS Ventura might be technically possible, but it can be very unreliable. Wine doesn't fully support all features of Photoshop, especially for complex or resource-heavy tasks. You'll likely run into issues with performance, compatibility, and even basic functionality like font rendering or GPU acceleration. Additionally, Photoshop CS6 is outdated, and Wine might not handle it well on newer macOS versions like Ventura. Your best bet is to either upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop or run the Windows version in a virtual machine (e.g., Parallels) for more stability.
