Can I send a text message to someones cell phone from my MacBookPro. If so from what program. I do not have texting on my phone, I don't want to pay AT&T $10.00 for the service since I would use it so little.

you can get a google voice account. they'll provide you a number from which you can send and receive text messages.

If the people you want to text have iPhones, then you can use iMessage on your Mac to text them.

Or just Macs, or iPads.
