The title says it is all: Can I send and receive text messages on my MacBook with a Google Pixel as my smartphone? I currently own an iPhone 6 and MacBook Pro and I always text my iPhone and non-iPhone friends from my computer. If I were to upgrade to a Pixel 2 from an iPhone 6, imaginably I'd lose this very useful feature, correct? I believe this is called text-forwarding.

Thanks for the help guys. My contemplation of leaving iOS is entirely through.

Do some more research, it's not as cut and dry as "not possible". If I wanted to, I could send a text from my cell number using my Mac. You either need a carrier that supports it (I'm on project Fi, I can send texts from hangouts), or you need a 3rd party app that enables the capability.
