iPod touch Can I start music without touching my screen? (iPod Touch 2nd gen)

So here's my situation. My audio jack on my iPod Touch quit working (only plays music in one ear very low), and no it's not my headphones. I've tried different pairs. But anyway, I was trying to take the Digitizer off, and broke the wire. So now my Digitizer is broken. I would just buy a new one (this is the third time I've broken the Digitizer and replaced it ), but my iPod isn't much unless to me if my headphone jack isn't working. So I wanna see if I fix my audio jack before I invest in yet another Digitizer. So I was wondering it there's a combination of buttons or way I can control it from my computer in order to play audio and see if I can fix it.

You could try using an iPhone headset with a button. One press of the button starts playing the iPod or use a dock with buttons.

OMFG, I'm the dumbest person alive. I just got some In-ear Apple earphones with the start/stop button on the cord. Haven't used it, but now I have.
