Hi guys,

I have an iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.2. Is it possible to still jailbreak 7.1.2 without installing iOS 8.1? I know that I have to use pangu, but I'm afraid I might be forced to upgrade. I'm relatively new to jailbreak scene.

Thanks in advance!

Jailbreaking does not require a restore, or at least the Evasi0n and Pangu jailbreaks do not.

That said, it's smart to backup your phone before you commit to a jailbreak. But the process is easy and straightforward.

If you indeed want that jailbroken, do it now just incase you run into trouble.
This way you still have a fallback going up to ios 8.1 and then jailbreak that while apple is still signing it - my $0.02

Thanks guys, I've successfully jailbroken my 4s! Had a few troubles, but didn't have to restore, thankfully!

Cheers.
