Hello people ,

I will be buying a used ipad 2 wifi firmware 4.3.3 jailbroken already using jailbreakme.com. Now I want to know if I can still save the SHSH Blobs using TU ? (4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3b2, 4.3b3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3 and 4.3.5)

Reason being in anycase there a issue with the ipad i can reset to factory 4.3.5 go to PMC, then when I get back the ipad jailbreak it again and restore to my saved SHSH Blobs 4.3.3.

I ask the guy about the JB SHSH if he saved it on his pc or mac but he has no idea what I am talking about .....

Any Help will be very very thankful ! :)

Nope -- I don't believe that you can. Once Apple stops signing the SHSH for a particular version, there's no way to get from that point forward if not already saved.

I believe this isn't totally true if you have an iPad1, tho. There's a program available that is able to retrieve the SHSH blobs for whatever version is currently installed on the device.... Since yours is an iPad2, this doesn't apply of course.

I might add that since the iPad2 you are buying is currently jailbroken, there's a chance Cydia has the SHSH blob saved for 4.3.3. If it does, when loading Cydia you should see SHSH: 4.3.3 at the top of the main Cydia screen.

I'm not expert at all of this, so I may be mistaken in some things. I'm sure if I am others in the forum will nicely correct me. :)

Maybe I should ask the guy i am buying it from to sign into Cydia and hope he can still see the firmware 4.3.3 if so maybe I can still save the shsh?

Thank :)

I don't think you will be able to save it at all no matter what...but if Cydia has it available/saved, you should be able to restore to 4.3.3 without any issue even if you upgrade to 4.3.5.

If you stay at 4.3.3, do remember to patch the pdf exploit and the SSL issue through the programs available via Cydia. That's what 4.3.4 & 4.3.5 fixed.

I hope Cydia save the SHSH ..... I will update when i buy the unit guys....

But if anyone can help me out more on how to save the SHSH please post PLEASE !!!!! :)

tHANK GUYS

If Cydia has them, I believe TU can download them from there to save locally. If Cydia doesn't have them, you're out of luck as there is NO other method of getting them, and they are device specific.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it if you can't see them in Cydia for yourself unless it's an absolutely screaming deal--like $200+ off retail. If they don't exist, it won't take much at all for you to find yourself without a jailbreak. And there are NO guarantees of another iPad 2 JB as they haven't found many usable exploits for the new chip in that one.

And since he used jailbreakme.com, the ONLY SHSH that *might* be on file with Cydia is 4.3.3, as that's the only firmware that could have been jailbroken with the iPad 2. While earlier blobs might have been saved using TinyUmbrella, your seller doesn't appear to be knowledgeable enough to have done so, and they'd currently be useless to you anyway for the purpose of restoring to a JB-able state.

If a jailbreak is important to you, verify those blobs yourself. If they aren't there, find a more knowledgeable seller.

If it has blobs for 4.3.3, terrific. But again, open Cydia on the device in his presence and verify them yourself--they'll be listed right at the top of the page. Don't take his word for it, or a screenshot as it's easy to dupe that sort of thing from another device. That price is only $50 off of current retail straight from Apple. If jailbreaking is important to you, and it doesn't have blobs, I'd call that a bad deal. But then again, I wouldn't consider a non jailbroken iPhone or iPad ever again. Stock simply doesn't compare to a fully customized experience.

Personal opinion obviously--and one my own husband disagrees with! LOL Both his devices are stock and probably always will be. But things like SBSettings, iFile, and FolderEnhancer improve the iOS experience by huge magnitudes for me.

Edit: The area circled in red is what you're looking for when you first open Cydia. If 4.3.3 doesn't appear in that area, Cydia doesn't have a jailbreakable blob for that device. That's a screenshot off my current iPad 1; my previous iPad 1 had blobs going all the way back to the beginning as it was originally JB'd with the first jailbreakme last summer.

1.So I'm guessing before you JB the ipad save the SHSH first then jailbreak it ?
2. If the shsh/blobs are not saved would that mean the ipad is not jailbroken ?
Sorry guys newbie

Yeah just 50bucks since the unit is 1month old but the unit is jb so I can do alot more haha ... Just hope the blobs are saved in Cydia

Thank so much IrishVixen you have been a huge HELP !!! if you have more details please post away Guys ! :)

the point of saving any shsh blob is to ensure that you can always restore to that specific version of firmware, even after apple longer provides it for download [this is called signing].

if you understand that concept - that blobs are used when you want to restore a particular firmware to the device - then the answers to your question become easier to understand.

i'll answer them in reverse order because it's more logical that way...

2) saving the shsh blob and jailbreaking are two separate and distinct steps and there is no dependency between the two. you can have a jailbroken ipad whose shsh blob was never saved. alternatively, you can save the blob and still have a tablet that is not jailbroken.

1) as long as apple is still signing that firmware version, you can choose to save the blob before jailbreaking it or after. the problem is that apple is no longer signing 4.3.3 so you can't request that blob anymore. you will have to rely on the ipad owner having done that for you.

if a sustainable jailbroken ipad2 is important to you, i would put out a want-to-buy and specifically request that the seller shows that the 4.3.3 blob was either saved to cydia or to an external file using a utility such as TinyUmbrella.

the fact that 4.3.3 is no longer being signed means that ipad2's with saved 4.3.3 blobs may actually command their own price since there are a finite number of these out there now. i certainly wouldn't sell my JB'ed ipad2 (with saved blobs) for under retail right now (it's also in mint condition). there is no guarantee that there will be an ipad2 JB for iOS5 and until iOS5 feature-specific apps hit the store, 4.3.3 will continue to work for apps.

ifaith does not work on the ipad2. even if it did, it wouldn't be able to retrieve the 4.3.3 blob anyway.

did you not read my answer to the OP's question #1 in the prior post?

well, i did read it but since u didn't mention anything about ifaith so i had to ask to make sure... Anyways, thanks for the answers. Let's hope there will be a new jailbreak for ios 5!

Still have not got the ipad 2 jb yet . But I have 110% the shsh is not saved anymore because apple not sign in the 4.3.3 . So I guess we all have to wait for the next Jailbreak or maybe there a hack to sign in 4.3.3. hahaha.....

By the way this is going to be my first ipad 2 jb what website should I brows to make sure it a jail break ipad ?

update guys I back out on the unit because it has yellowish screen display.
I would have to end up un-doing the jb and resturn it to apple to have it replace . Plus the guy did not want to lower the price anymore haha.

So I just get a ipad 2 new hope its a 4.3.3 imposble i know right.

But if i get a ipad 2 firmversion 4.3.2/4.3.1 can I still jailbreak it or noway at all since there no more sign-in for 4.3.3 ?
