Can I still use Mobile Me with iOS5 or iPhone 4S?

I'm still confused about how to *not* transition to iCloud.

If I update my iPad to iOS5 and/or get a new iPhone 4S, can I use my current Mobile Me settings and continue syncing Contacts and Calendars? I can't update two phones and four Macs to Lion, so I will not be able to use iCloud.

    Thanks,
    Steve

You will be able to continue to just use MobileMe until the expiration date next year, even on new devices running iOS 5.

The two 3G phones (see sig) will not physically be able to upgrade to iOS 5, and one Mac is too old for Lion. But I also have assorted hardware and software that is not Lion compatible and in most cases never will be Lion compatible. (old medical software that is essential, slide scanner with no new drivers in years, weather station software with ill developer, Mac specific mailing list in use for 12 years with no new upgrades since 2007, etc.)

So I'm using Snow Leopard as long as the computers I have now can be kept running.

Thanks for the replies. We ended up ordering one black and one white 16 GB iPhone 4S from AT&T this morning. These replace my 16 GB iPhone 3G and my wife's 16 GB iPhone 3GS.

IOS 5 is not getting contact updates from MobileMe

I updated my iPod Touch to IOS 5 on Oct 12 (after about 10 attempts - Apple's server capacity was inadequately sized). Actually, because of the confusion, I did a restore, so I lost a lot of data; but I expected to recover most of it from a backup. That did not happen. And I discovered that with IOS 5, the Contacts app can not access the MobileMe service to download contacts. This problem has been noted in several other forums.

So after the upgrade, I had NO contacts on my iPod. I corrected this by attaching the iPod to my iMac via USB cable, going to the Info tab,
and selecting the option to "Sync Address Book Contacts". There was a warning that my iPod was also syncing with MobileMe over the air, and that I might get duplicate contacts. So iTunes recognized that I have configured the iPod to sync contacts via MobileMe; it just ain't working. I went ahead and did the sync using iTunes; I now have a recent set of contact info on my iPod.

Hoping Apple will fix this problem soon.
