Well, it isn't the most epic literary effort by my estimation. And it's totally the wrong depiction of schizophrenia, I would say more akin to multiple personality disorder.
Thankfully I knew it wasn't a masterpiece, although many 'limericks' are often tongue in cheek. Schizophrenia is such a varied disease, and the latin word breaks down to split mind.

It does indeed refer to split mind yes but I think it would be very unlikely for someone with a psychosis to have two separate identities. It's usually associated with delusion. And yes of course it is very varied, from mild psychosis, to full blown Schizophrenia. And even the latter has many forms.

What does writing need? A thesaurus, dictionary and a word processor (or typewriter)

Edit: I mean no disrespect by the comment of what a writer needs, Steven King reportedly still uses a typewriter, I have a friend who wrote a large paper using a typewriter and putting words to paper, so to speak needs a level of talent, gifts and knowledge of the English language that I'm in awe in how some people can easily put words together.
Let's not forget, that writing isn't only about the published book, magazine, or copy, but also includes screenwriting for TV, and Movies. Apple is the home of some of the most advanced writing software out there; Scrivener, Ulysses, and Final Draft. Let's also not forget song writing as a sub-section of the art.
I have no idea how to do this, my apologies. But might it be an idea to test how popular such a sub forum would be with a poll? For example, questions could include. Are you a writer? Amateur, unpublished is fine. Do you consider the Mac to be your system of choice for you profession/hobby? And do you have a Mac specific workflow? And Would you want to see a sub domain for writing? Or any suggestions for questions welcome, if there is little interest, then it's not worth it.
I believe things that are left to grow organically, without being 'over watered' last the longest. A little bit of spreading the seed, so to speak, in other parts of the forums wouldn't hurt. Although as I write that, I am minded, that it might be 'rule breaking' to go off topic in other sub forums/threads etc. Maybe a mod will come along and guide us best.

They usually wait and see how these discussions turn out here in the SFF forum before responding. As it stands, this request has not been met with unrivaled enthusiasm. @arn and the admins have been keen on avoiding forum bloat, i.e., creating too many sub forums that will generally be inactive.

The Special Interests forum, is organized with functions that tie directly into using a Mac. Graphic Design, Digital Videos, Digital Audio and to a lessor extent photography are activities closely tied with Macs. The software and specialized skills are such that having distinct forums for those areas makes sense.

Writing doesn't have that level of immersion in Mac ecosystem. I'm not diminishing the skills needed to write but its not a technology driven specialty that has close ties with Apple products and services.
Just looking through the community discussion page, and note that there is 4 threads which would come under a 'writing' sub heading. One of which has been going for nearly 15 years, and has over 10k replies, and a 797k views!

With the sub sections, somehow I have left out Children's Literature. That would be nice to include.
I'd add "YA - Young Adult" - as well, given that the division that used to exist between books written for children, and those aimed at adults is a lot less stark these days, and that this sub-section has quite a distinct profile, as well as a lot of readers. More to the point, I would not be surprised to learn that quite a number of the members of MR also fall into this category (YA - in other words, the world of teens).

Are we getting ahead of ourselves? I think the first objective is to attain a sub thread on writing, and then just let the various threads evolve. I did a search of MR, and there are quite a lot of writing based conversations, some that didn't get far, and others that have done well.
Someone suggested that there might not be a lot of aspiring writers within MR, but we won't know until we give them an opportunity to thrive. Add to that, I might attract the passing visitor, who might them become an active user.

Not sure if AI needs to "enter the chat" here either, and how to address it?

Or has that gift-horse already left the post-truth twenty-first century barn?

EDIT: I do see now posts #7-10 that did mention about potential AI issues.
