I have an older MB, late 08 unibody, which has a dual core processor. I was wondering if I could switch out the processor for a quad core one, or is that impossible?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. IIRC the CPUs are soldered to the motherboard.

It is impossible. The CPUs are stuck on the motherboard. You'll just have to buy a new computer to get the quad-core goodness.
