In 2010, I purchased a late-2009 unibody Macbook.
In 2011, I purchased a 2011 27" iMac.
On March 10, 2012, I suddenly became upset that the version of iMovie on my iMac (9), was older than the version of iMovie on my Macbook (8).
Since I like having my laptop and desktop equipped with the same software whenever possible, I thought up an easy way to upgrade: insert the "Applications Install DVD" that came with my iMac in to the older Macbook, and install the newer versions of all the software on that disk!
...this did not work.
So my question is... can the Applications Install DVD be used on a computer other than the one it came with? And how can I acquire the latest versions of come-with-your-computer applications like iMovie on my older Macbook?
