In 2010, I purchased a late-2009 unibody Macbook.
In 2011, I purchased a 2011 27" iMac.
On March 10, 2012, I suddenly became upset that the version of iMovie on my iMac (9), was older than the version of iMovie on my Macbook (8).
Since I like having my laptop and desktop equipped with the same software whenever possible, I thought up an easy way to upgrade: insert the "Applications Install DVD" that came with my iMac in to the older Macbook, and install the newer versions of all the software on that disk! 🙂
...this did not work. 🙁
So my question is... can the Applications Install DVD be used on a computer other than the one it came with? And how can I acquire the latest versions of come-with-your-computer applications like iMovie on my older Macbook?
