iPhone Can I update iOS on 3gs (06.15.00)?

There is an iphone 3gs 4.1 iOS (06.15.00), it has Cydia and ultrasn0w (so I assume its locked to a network, and I assume its on ipad baseband right?), the question is:

Can I update iOS to 6.0? As I was told before (much much before) that you cant (or its better not to) update 3gs phones with ipad baseband?

Wont I loose jailbreak/unlock if I update to 6.0?
Which tools to use for the unlock? Any specific information I need to do this? Or can I just use redsn0w and jailbreak and then write ultrasn0w and unlock it?

Ultrasn0w doesn't yet work for iOS6

I recommend removing (downgrading) from iPad baseband

iClarified.com has a tutorial (use older Redsn0w as indicated)

But even with the 5.13.xx baseband, Ultrasn0w won't work on iOS6 yet.
The iPad baseband idea is an old, bad idea and it interferes with newer firmware during restores, upgrades.
