I got my 1GB RAM from www.mrmemory.co.uk. I've got an 800MHz iBook G4 which had the 128k built in & a 256MB upgrade. I just removed the 256MB & inserted the 1GB.
Just got a Hynix 1gb pc2700 Ram stick and the iBook didn't pickup the extra memory. It is a 200 pin fit in perfectly but the system isn't picking it up. I am thinking it's a defective or used Ram stick even though it is supposedly new.
What's weird is the laptop seems faster. Any ideas? Gonna contact the seller and complain.
Make sure it isn't a high density stick. PowerPC Macs don't really like high density ram and will either not see it or only be able to use half of its reported value.
Unsure of how to check this. Most of the ebay sellers don't have anything about low vs high. Even the Crucial ram stick on Amazon doesn't have a description for it.
