Hi-
Just wondering if I can use a iPhone (from verizon) as an iPOD. Mainly using over wi-fi to download games and music and surf the web. I don't want to use it as a phone. Is this kosher? Does it matter if the phone was from verizon or At&t? does it matter the generation.

Am in the market for an iPOD but saw some craigslist ads for iPhone and was wondering if one can use it as an iPOD without too much trouble.

(also if i want to use the iphone as a phone in europe, can i simply buy a sim card over there and use it? or does this get complicated.)

Thanks.

You'll have to do this with an at&t phone; Verizon requires service signup to get past the activation screen.
Take an inactive SIM card and insert it into the phone. This'll get you past the beginning screen when you hook it up to itunes. Since the sim doesn't have service attached, you're good to go.
