can I use my inactive iPhone 3G as an iPod Touch?

I purchased the iphone 4 and still have my old 3g running ios 4. I would like to keep my old phone to use as a touch and give it to my son. Is this possible?

Yes just stop paying AT&T and they will turn it into an iPod touch for you.

As soon as you activate the 4, your 3G sim was deactivated, so now it is essentially an iPod Touch.
