I didn't bring the cash, but I certainly don't understand why I couldn't pay cash. Sounds like a load of BS to me. I'd think they'd rather take cash than credit.

Rather? Probably not. There isn't an issue doing it though.

Many people have that time when they were saying no cash for iPads in their minds, that was a unique time though.

How come you sold your MBP? It was only a 2011 model.

The photographer you work for should have an external monitor you can hook up with your laptop.

"Your mom goes to college"...

Is there a problem with that?

God some members are rude.

Because I bought knowing I'd be getting the refresh. I only bought it because my HP was a POS.

As I already said you have no right to tell me what I can and can't buy with my own money so how about you contribute something or leave. I work for a photographer so I actually need a computer that can handle Photoshop amongst other editing tools.

I can't, I'm in a completely different state from where the rest of my family lives. I would've brought both of them if I could but the closest Apple store to our town is on the other side of the state.

Funny, I don't seem to recall telling you how to spend your money. It was more of a "things are different these days" sort of thing...

Although I do find it patently absurd that you're going to claim you "need" a laptop that can handle "Photoshop and editing tools" when you've mentioned at another point that you already have a 2011 model. I'm not going to tell you what to do with your money (I mean, we are a forum for Apple users, we all know we're overpaying at least slightly), but at least be honest with yourself - you want the new tech, you don't "need" it.

Also, it's the internet. You had to expect that adults would be jerks about a 15 year old spending $2000 on a professional laptop. Most 15 year olds get stoked on an iPod as their "big" Christmas present.

tl;dr - don't post on the internet if you don't want to be criticized

OP,

what you could do is get a close high school or college friend to purchase it for you with your card (sounds a bit silly but it might work). Another way is to get your dad to present the information on behalf of your mother. Surely Apple employees wouldn't make it difficult. Oh and one thing, only present the ID if you have to.

Goodluck OP :)!
